It is hard starting out with affiliate marketing and just to show it can be done for cheap, I just setup a dating PPC campaign using mainly free methods, the only money out of my pocket is the $7 for the .com (using godaddy coupon: LOL75), utilized a $1 for 10 day trial at Click Consultants, and $30 for an initial deposit to Yahoo! Search Marketing (YSM). (link for free $199 credit in YSM)
Initial Setup
I setup a Wordpress blog at my site, found a good love theme, and used an RSS feed autoposter plugin to where it automatically makes posts (constant contentfor the SE spiders to eat it up). I then setup my dating landing page with keyword tracking capabilities, SEO’d a little, added the typical links at the bottom (About Us | Contact Us | Privacy Policy | etc) and uploaded it to my hosting. (make sure you turn on Keyword Tracking in YSM!!) I added an article to the landing page that I found at an article directory.
(I have a reseller account so it doesn’t cost me anything for space, but there are many people out there offering free hosting, so just look around digital point for some free hosting if you don’t have any.)
Gathering Keywords
I then started the tedious task of gathering keywords. I utilized many free techniques in getting them although they are very time consuming. I used the keyword suggest tool at digital point, the free keyword spy lists, the free wordtracker tool, and checked out other sites meta keywords for more suggestions. I sorted them out into different categories so that I could easily group them with ads in my YSM PPC campaign. I sorted them into groups of ‘online dating’, ‘gay dating’, ‘hispanic dating’,'christian dating’, etc.
Creating Your Ad Campaign
I used the free tools at keyword spy to check out other publishers ads and get an idea of the ones that convert and used them as a go by to word my ads. Created around 5 ads for each Group. Then I added my keywords to the corresponding Ad Groups.
That is where I am at the moment I will let you in on the progress as it happens…
