This is part 2 of my experience at the StoresOnline free Internet Marketing Seminar.
Something I forgot in the first post was that when we were in the hall before going into the room a guy came out and said some stuff to us and he had a british accent. I chuckled and my fiance asked what I was laughing at, I told her “Ahh yes! You have to have a british accent because Americans assume people with Brit Accents are smart for some reason. That was something that I learned and thought about because it is true from Frank Kern. Sorry I forgot about that part.
Seminar
Then the seminar actually starts. The British guy gets up there and introduces himself tells everyone he is from Manchester, England, blah blah blah and then intoduces the speaker. The speaker gets up there and tells everyone why people trying to get started on the internet marketing frontier fails. It’s because they don’t have the right tools and the right support. And tells everyone ’straight up’ why they are here giving this free seminar, they are a software company, not a get rich quick scheme, they don’t guarantee that you will make lots of money, etc. I read about this in one of the StoresOnlineScams forums, that they try to dodge the bizopportunity scheme by offering just software and no guarantees, lol. He goes on showing how easy their software is to use. He says ‘3 clicks thats all you need’, he demonstrates the 3 clicks and a website pops out. Everyone is amazed, lol. It looks real crappy to me, it’s just a themed shopping cart, he makes all the old people’s jaws drop by just changing the theme with the click of a button, lol. He tells everyone that the software is $199 one time fee, and $29.99/month for hosting and support. At that time my jaw drops, lol. For $29.99 I better be getting a big VPS package. He then says that they are offering a discount for this seminar and will let us know later. On April 29th they will be having a workshop explaining everything to everyone what is affiliate marketing, what is dropshipping, how to promote via SEO, PPC, etc. I was hoping that this free seminar would have some tips but nope, none were given.
He showcases some of their clients websites showing everyone how great they are. Here are the sites with some homework I did last night on them such as PR and # of Backlinks in Google and Yahoo:
http://www.allamericanwatches.com/site/626101/ (PageRank: 4 | Backlinks: G=52 Y=1800)
http://www.precisionscopes.com/ (PageRank: 1 | Backlinks: G=0 Y=0)
He then showcases some of their SEO examplesm which makes the participants think all they need to do is buy this software and they are at the top of Google, those poor souls. Here are the sites and the homework I did on them last night:
#1 http://www.mapbooks4u.com/ (PageRank: 4 | Backlinks: G=65 Y=2020)
What He Showed: The site ranks #1 out of 798k for “inland empire thomas guide”.
What I Found: when I checked it there were only 64k results. And when I look for the keyword in quotes it only shows 17 results so yea, shouldn’t be very hard to rank well. I have been thinking about writing an eZineArticle on it to knock them down on the rankings lol. But really who else that goes to the seminar would be taking the notes on their high points and then check them out when they get home? Probably noone, it would just waste my precious time so I probably won’t do it anytime soon.
#2 http://www.discountedboots.com/ (PageRank: 4 | Backlinks: G=6 Y=671)
What He Showed: The site ranks #1 out of almost 9 million sites for “discount boots”!!!
What I Found: Well when I got home and checked there were only 227k results, where did the other 8.7 million sites come from? If I check for the keyphrase in quotes I get 39k results which isn’t bad. I looked at the 4 links to his site and didn’t see anything that should give it a PR4 maybe I am missing something. It does seem strange that most of these StoresOnline sites have a PR4.
Another site he just through in the mix to I guess show even a trucker & his wife can get a store going. We couldn’t help but notice the KKK reference.
http://www.KozyKomfortbyKaren.com/ (PageRank: 4 | Backlinks: G=42 Y=1050)
He then says remember the discount I mentioned, he said we are gonna waive the $29.99 per month hosting and support and also knock down the price of the software to $50. But wait that’s not all, the workshop is normally $499 but for the people who buy today we are giving it to you for free. What they showed can all be free if you wanted to find it but for the not-so-internet-savvy people I believe this is a bargain. I just hope they teach them some good promotional methods at the workshop. This was about all of the presentation part.
The next post will be about the conclusion/dinner part of the StoresOnline seminar. You won’t believe what the british guy told me! Make sure you subscribe to our FeedBurner email feed to be kept on top of this great story.
